This was very much a week of mixed projects. Mr. L had a digital linear scale and he was looking for someone to fix it so I agreed to do that. After taking it apart and resoldering some connections back on the scale it still wasn't working properly. Whenever the scale went past 3 mm in the positive or 40 mm in the negative it would bug out and start jumping hundreds of millimeters randomly. I emailed the company about any ideas they had about fixing it and after sending them the video and a bit of back and forth they couldn't figure out a solution. The company said they would send a replacement so that at least is some good news.

Next, I decided to continue working on the controller design for the RC R2D2. I had a controller I didn't use at home that I thought I might use the shell of, but it turned out that the joysticks I am using are too big for it, so it won't work, unfortunately. After watching a few more videos about form tools in Fusion 360, I was able to semi-create a controller on my own. It wasn't perfect and definitely needed to be adjusted, but it is at least a start and is more than I could do a week ago. Hopefully, watching some more videos will help me refine those techniques needed. I've been using the channel Product Design Online, which also makes the 30-day Fusion videos, which are helpful for beginners.

The last thing I was doing this week was testing out a cut for Tim. He wants to put a recess into his pieces of stock, but wanted to check that I would work before doing it on the expensive stock. He found a piece that would work for testing, and I started facing it down. Whoever used this piece last time was doing something weird, as it was cut at a suspicious angle, and also some odd and dangerous chips flew out when milling. When I took a picture of it, my phone automatically flagged it as sensitive because it thought the chip was a knife.
