This week I got straight to work finishing the other end cap for the main body of the ROV. This included adding and tapping the smaller holes on the inside of the end cap. Tim decided he wanted to make the grooves on the lathe this time as it provides a much cleaner and smoother finish.

Once that was done there is only one part left for the body which are the panels. These are going to be cut out with the water jet and then chamfered using the CNC mill. The water jet was having some troubles on Wednesday, and I only managed to get it fixed by the end of the day so I had to wait till Thursday to actually cut anything.

When I got to shop Thursday I immediately went and did the cut, but there were a few issues. The general outside shape was perfect, but for any of the inside cutouts the machine seemed to struggle. It put the lead-ins on the outside and not the inside meaning they were clearly visible. The machine also managed to completely misplace a hole, putting it in the wrong spot. I didn't get to try and cut it again as another classmate started using the water jet. Depending on how long they are using it for I might just try and mill the whole thing out which would be a pain, but might be the best option.

Since I was waiting for the water jet to be available I started doing my OSHA 10 certification. I managed to get through the first unit which was an hour long. I probably won't finish all of it by the end of the school year, but it might be something I complete over summer vacation.
